OIL India has always been at the forefront of embracing new technologies and concepts for opening new vistas and put a stride forward towards sustainable energy security of the nation. To us, wind and sun are not just forces of nature. It is our nature. And we are unstoppable in the pursuit of a future of renewable energy.Developing, operating, and managing energy parks is not just pure business for us. It is a way to view the world.

India is seeking to revamp its fossil fuels-driven economy by expanding renewable energy and embracing new technologies like green hydrogen and green ammonia and OIL is doing its best towards contributing for the same.

As a part of its straight intent OIL over the last few years has diversified into the Alternative (renewable) Energy domain, specially into the wind and solar segments and has so far established Commercial nature renewable energy projects of 188.1MW comprising of 174.1MW Wind and 14MW Solar energy projects.

The Company’s foray into the wind energy domain thus far comprises of maiden 13.6MW Wind Energy Power Project commissioned at Ludurva, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in March 2012, a follow up 54MW Wind Energy Power Project commissioned at Dangri, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in March 2013, third Wind Energy Power Project of 54 MW capacity which was a split project commissioned in March 2015 with 16 MW commissioned at Patan, Gujarat and 38 MW commissioned at Chandgarh, Madhya Pradesh. In FY 2016-17, OIL undertook its fourth Wind Energy Power Project of 52.5MW capacity, which was again a split project commissioned in Madhya Pradesh & Gujarat, with an installed capacity of 27.3MW in Kotiya, Gujarat and 25.2MW in Unchawas, Madhya Pradesh.

While OIL’s presence in the wind energy segment as on date is quite significant, the same though modest in the solar energy segment is steadily improving with a 5MW solar power project operational since 2014 and another 9MW solar power plant commissioned at Ramgarh, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in 2016.

All the renewable energy projects (commercial) have been successfully connected to the power grid of the respective states.

Solar plants with a capacity of 0.799 MW are also being used for captive energy consumption. Newly installed solar plants of capacities 0.034 MW, 0.04 MW, 0.03 MW, 0.024 MW and 0.008 MW have been successfully commissioned on 08.09.2021 at various locations in FHQ, Duliajan.

Since commissioning, these sustainable projects have provided both tangible and intangible benefits to the Company.  Besides contributing to the Company’s bottom line through sales of power as well as by reaping the benefits of fiscal incentives introduced by the Government from time to time, these projects have improved both the visibility and the brand image of OIL as a promoter of Green Energy and have added their bit towards the Nation’s thrust in promoting RE initiatives and attaining Energy Security.

OIL generated revenue of Rs. 131.67 crores in FY 2021-22 from its Renewable Energy Plants.

OIL's expansion in the RE segment is a significant stride towards achieving its vision of being an energy company committed to India's energy security through both conventional and non-conventional energy solutions. This selective diversification into the alternate energy sources was a strategic decision under the Company's Strategic Plan. OIL has always strived to be a socially and environmentally Responsible Corporate Citizen and its foray into the renewable energy sector is a committed step towards providing sustainable energy for the nation's growth and development. OIL would continue its journey towards expanding its renewable energy resources in future with participation in many more such projects.

We, at OIL, are proud of working towards a cleaner future and making a difference for our future generations.
